Allied Business Training

Business/Clerical

The business/clerical vocation includes word and data processing, secretary and receptionist training.  Students will gain an understanding of a broad range of office and clerical skills.  Specific skills will include filing, keyboarding, accounting, recordkeeping, office technology and business English.

Auto Mechanics

Auto Mechanics

The auto mechanic (repair) vocation offers students an opportunity to work with computerized diagnostic equipment and do hands on inspection to identify vehicle problems.  Auto air-conditioning technicians install and repair air conditioners and components such as compressors, condensers and controls.  Students will learn brake repair, tune-ups, and other service technician responsibilities. 

Facilities Maintenance

Facilities Maintenance

The facility maintenance vocation teaches students a wide variety of skills needed to maintain homes, apartment complexes and other buildings.    Students will be able to move through hundreds of different types of repairs and maintenance tasks.  A few of the general concentration areas that are offered through this trade include painting, home repair, basic electrical repair, lawn and yard maintenance, paneling, light carpentry, and plumbing.

Carpentry Class

Carpentry

The carpentry vocation offers students a pre-apprenticeship training opportunity with a union approved instructor. Students will learn all of the carpentry basics including framing, building shelves and bookcases, constructing stairs, walls and shelters and finish work.  Students who successfully complete this trade will be eligible to apply for a union sponsored apprenticeship program.

Certified Nursing

Certified Nursing

Students engage in learning to take vital signs, positioning, lifting precautions and other medical skills needed to obtain employment in the arena of Certified Nursing Assistant. Students participate in classroom activities as well as clinical duties. 

Culinary Arts Program

Culinary Arts

The culinary arts vocation provides students with training in basic food handling and preparation.  Students learn how to prepare the most basic to more sophisticated menus and also practice cooking and food preparation techniques that allow them to become quick, efficient and creative in both an institutional and restaurant setting.  After completing this program, students may make application for advanced training at other Job Corps locations.

Hotel Clerk Class

Hotel Clerk

The hotel clerk vocation provides the students an opportunity to perfect customer service, reservationists, computer and other skills necessary to work in the hospitality industry.

 

Medical Office Support

Medical Office Support

Medical Office Support is a rapidly growing field that will give students the skills necessary to work in a medical records department, as a transcriptionist or as a medical receptionist. This type of work is very detailed-oriented with a strong emphasis placed on communication skills and the ability to effectively deal with people throughout medical facilities. Employment is available in hospitals, physician’s offices and various other care facilities.

Painting Class

Painting

The painting vocation offers students a pre-apprenticeship training opportunity with a union approved instructor.  Students will learn all of the painting basics including interior and exterior prep and finish work; use of sprayers, brushes and shields; primer and color mixing as well as papering.   All students who successfully complete this trade will be eligible for a union approved sponsored apprenticeship program.

Network Cabling
The network cabling vocation offers students an opportunity to learn the telecommunication duties of line installers and repairers.  Line installers construct poles, utility towers, maintenance of electrical telephone and cable television lines, as well as underground trenches.  Other duties include setting up service for customers and installing network equipment, driving utility trucks and working outdoors.
